New Era Technology Heightens Multi-Use Arena

The Indiana Farmers Coliseum is a one-of-a-kind multi-use sports and entertainment facility located at the Indiana State Fairgrounds & Event Center. Home to the Indy Fuel and more than 150 events each year, the facility originally opened in 1939 and has undergone an extensive renovation to modernize the iconic venue. New Era Technology served as the low voltage contractor for a new audio system, broadcast cable infrastructure, and CATV distribution system for this renovation.

The audio system features a 32-channel console at the sound booth on the east end of the concourse level, and a 16-channel console for video feeds in the control room on the upper concourse level. The digital audio equipment operates on a dedicated network for reliable communications. A distributed speaker system provides complete coverage of the seating and floor areas while an independent system serves the corridors for flexibility.

The CATV system provides the option to send a wide range of channels to more than 72 flat-screen TVs throughout the facility. There are eight, four-channel modulators to convert media sources to RF for distribution. The signal is sent from the head end to four distribution rooms via fiber in which it’s converted to coaxial cable for the final run to the televisions.

New Era’s solutions help to optimize the variety of uses the multi-purpose facility can host for years to come.
