Integrating Vodafone’s Audiovisual Environment – Auckland, New Zealand

3 Minutes Read

Vodafone needed a complete audiovisual environment integration after consolidating their Auckland staff across four locations into their newly refurbished building in Smales Farm. Vodafone and Smales Farm had invested a combined $200 million into the redevelopment of the Vodafone building and the creation of a Vodafone-branded precinct.

New Era Technology was engaged to deliver all aspects of the audiovisual environment including design, procurement, delivery and ongoing support.

New Era Technology worked to bring to life Vodafone’s vision of a wireless-enabled, voice and video aware, and simple yet intuitive user interfaced building.

New Era’s contributions included audiovisual solutions for various areas throughout the facility including: presentation spaces, meeting rooms, network operation centres, digital signage, video walls, video conferencing and the technology innovation centre.

Systems and technology included meeting rooms, microphones, rack chargers, transceivers, Q-SYS Core Processors and speakers. Total device counts included over 70 speakers, 40 microphones, 14 Q-SYS Integrated Core Processors and 11 Q-SYS Dante Bridge Cards.

Live event space

The Live Event Space allowed Vodafone to host live stage events effortlessly. New Era’s solutions included providing the BETA 58A capsule on the MXW wireless system, which allows the room to have crystal clear audio. A Battery Rack Charger accommodates 8 rechargeable body packs and hand-held transmitter batteries in a single unit. The access point transceiver installed uses automated frequency coordination to assign clear frequencies to the wireless microphones. This solution helps align with the original vision of providing optimal learning environments throughout the facility.

Meeting room technology

Meeting room technology was chosen to provide consistent user experience and was altered depending on the size of the room. In the smaller meeting rooms, Table Array Microphones were chosen to provide premium audio for video conferencing.

In the larger sized meeting rooms, Ceiling Array Microphones were chosen for not only the premium audio quality, but also for ease on installation and overall room aesthetics.

“Vodafone can now organise multi-purpose rooms to best suit their work style, things can move and change depending on the presentation style or collaborative needs of the session.“ – AV Consulting

A trusted advisor

Throughout the tight project, New Era Technology contributed to serving as a liaison and trusted advisor to provide valuable insights into providing a technically elegant and functionally efficient solution.

New Era Technology worked very closely with key stakeholders involved to maintain system integrity and to allow for scalability within the existing design. The platform was set up to allow cost-effective implementation of additional locations and inputs, delivering the same results.

Outcome

New Era Technology delivered this audiovisual environment project within budget and on a tight schedule. The customer’s desire to gradually occupy the building as each phase was completed was achieved seamlessly, supported with ongoing assistance via a robust remote management solution and on-site technical staff.

“At Vodafone we are all about free-range working, meaning our people can work from anywhere. It is therefore important all our office meeting rooms are fitted with top-of-the-range audio and video equipment to allow Vodafone staff to join meetings digitally when needed”
